Millard Homes For Sale

About Millard

Millard, Nebraska arose from humble beginnings as a small station on the Union Pacific line. A local Omaha entrepreneur by the name of Ezra Millard first laid plats for the town around 1871. Soon thereafter a small village sprung up spurring the fertile agricultural land nearby and the railroad. The first school was founded in 1868. At the time, Millard Elevators, Johnson’s Brickyard, and Millard Mills were the major employers in the area. The first businesses to emerge into the town were a hotel, saloon, and dry goods store. Omaha annexed the town in 1971, and Millard is now one of the most prestigious neighborhoods in the metropolitan area today.

Living in Millard, Omaha

Millard has grown up from its small railroad town status into one of the most desirable neighborhoods in the Omaha metro area. Ezra Millard was a local of Omaha and a known entrepreneur; he purchased 320-acres of land and divided that into plats for homes. The town quickly became a center for industry, blacksmith shops, saloons, hotels, and wagon shops. It also saw several general stores pop up in order to serve the increasing population. The town continued to grow steadily over the years and now features some of the grandest homes in all the Omaha metropolitan area.
